Problem Description:

I have a FireWire camera connected to the 1394b port on my FireWire card. After doing so, I am only able to achieve 100 Mbps transfer rates. As a result, some higher resolution formats or higher frame rates at any resolution are unavailable, both when using the CMU DCAM demo application, as well as Image Acquisition Toolbox.

Solution:

The performance of your 1394a or 1394b FireWire devices may be greatly reduced after you update your computer to Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2). This problem occurs because Windows XP SP2 changes 1394b ports to S100 speed when you upgrade.

Microsoft has designed Hotfix 885222 to address this issues. You can find more information about this issue on Microsoft's website:
