Subject:
Why am I unable to achieve transfer rates greater than 100 Mbps with the 1394b port on Windows XP when using Image Acquisition Toolbox?
Problem Description:
I have a FireWire camera connected to the 1394b port on my FireWire card. After doing so, I am only able to achieve 100 Mbps transfer rates. As a result, some higher resolution formats or higher frame rates at any resolution are unavailable, both when using the CMU DCAM demo application, as well as Image Acquisition Toolbox.
Solution:The performance of your 1394a or 1394b FireWire devices may be greatly reduced after you update your computer to Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2). This problem occurs because Windows XP SP2 changes 1394b ports to S100 speed when you upgrade. |
