How can I change file associations for MAT-files such that they open directly into MATLAB 7.4 (R2007a) rather than launching the Import Wizard?

When I double click on a MAT-file in Windows Explorer, I would like MATLAB to load a MAT-file into the workspace directly.

To change the file associations to allow MATLAB to load the MAT-file into the workspace directly from Windows Explorer, follow the steps listed below:
1. Open a Windows Explorer window
2. Select the menu items: Tools -> Folder Options...
3. Select the tab: File Types
4. Browse down the file-type list and find "MATLAB MAT-file"
5. Click "Advanced" button
6. Select "Open" (choose the second one if you have two) then click "Set Default"
7. Click "Ok" and close the Folder Options window
