By default, the MathWorks installer on the Windows DVD will detect your system architecture and install the appropriate MATLAB version for your machine. On 64-bit Windows systems, it will install the 64-bit version of MATLAB by default.

If you would like to install the 32-bit version, you will need to manually start the 32-bit MATLAB installer. This can be performed by running the setup.exe file from the /bin/win32 folder on the DVD (for versions R2010a and older, in the win32 folder).
