Which version (32 or 64-bit) is installed by default from the Windows DVD? How can I install 32-bit MATLAB on my 64-bit Windows machine?

I want to know whether the 32 or 64-bit version of MATLAB will be installed by default from the DVD. I would also like to know how to have the 32-bit version of MATLAB installed on my 64-bit Windows computer.

By default, the MathWorks installer on the Windows DVD will detect your system architecture and install the appropriate MATLAB version for your machine. On 64-bit Windows systems, it will install the 64-bit version of MATLAB by default.
If you would like to install the 32-bit version, you will need to manually start the 32-bit MATLAB installer. This can be performed by running the setup.exe file from the /bin/win32 folder on the DVD (for versions R2010a and older, in the win32 folder). If you are an administrator or a licensed end user with download permissions, you can also download the 32-bit version of MATLAB by signing into your account on the following website:

I had troubles with some PERL routines inside the Matlab folder due to the paranthesis in the path "Program files (86)" under Windows 64 and Matlab 2008a to 2011b. Therefore I've installed Matlab in a new folder "C:\Program_".

Note: MATLAB R2016a and later have no support for Windows 32. MATLAB R2015b is the last version that supported Windows 32.
