Where can I find the Activation Key or File Installation Key (FIK) for my license?

Problem Description:

I am trying to distribute or retrieve the Activation Key for my license in order to have licensed end users associate to my license and activate MATLAB. I am trying to distribute or retrieve the File Installation Key to install MATLAB without using the internet. Where can I find these keys?

Solution:

If you are an Administrator or Asset Manager, the Activation Key and File Installation Key can be retrieved through your MathWorks account. To retrieve your Activation Key or File Installation Key, follow the steps below:

1. Log into the License Center here:

www.mathworks.com/licensecenter

2. Select the desired license
3. Select the "Activation and Installation" tab
4. Click on the "Advanced Options" button (only displayed for the Administrator or Asset Manager)

The Activation Key and File Installation Key will be displayed in the pop-up window.

Otherwise, to obtain the File Installation Key you can do the following as long as you have activation permissions on the license:

1. Log into the License Center here:

www.mathworks.com/licensecenter

2. Click on the desired license
3. Select the "Activation and Installation" tab
4. If the license has been activated, click on the Activation Label for your machine
5. Click the "Get License File" button once your activation details are retrieved.
6. Choose the latest release of MATLAB and provide the computer login name if prompted.

The license file and File Installation Key will be available in the pop-up window.

NOTE: If you are the Administrator or Asset Manager of the license and you do not have an Activation & Installation tab, you may have a license that does not require activation (such as a PolySpace or MATLAB license that is out of maintenance). In that case, you can retrieve your passcodes from the "Passcodes" tab in the License Center.
