Why does clicking the Install button in the MATLAB installer do nothing on Windows Vista?

Problem Description:

I have gone through every screen of the installer, and on the last screen it gives me a button that says "Install". When I click this button nothing happens and the installation will not continue.

Solution:

If the installer does not respond when you click the "Install" button, restart the installer and try the following workarounds:

1. Right-click the setup.exe file (or installer.exe, if installing from downloads) and select "Run as Administrator".

2. Install in Safe Mode. To do this, reboot the machine, then while the computer is booting up, tap the "F8" key until you get the "Safe Mode Options" screen. Choose "Safe Mode with Networking" and Windows will boot in Safe Mode.

3. Change theme to Windows Classic. To do this, click the Start button, click Control Panel, click Appearance and Personalization, and under Personalization, click Change the theme. In the Theme Settings menu, change the theme to Windows Classic and click OK.
