Is MATLAB 7.8 (R2009a) and above supported on Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger?

I am trying to install MATLAB 7.8 (R2009a) on my Mac running 10.4. When I launch the installer, it reads the downloaded toolbox files but then crashes silently.

Solution:

As of R2009a, Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger is no longer supported. You can view the system requirements here:

As a workaround, if available, you can use MATLAB 7.7 (R2008b) which is supported on Mac OSX 10.4 Tiger.
