Subject:

Why didn't Java get installed when I ran the MATLAB installer from downloads on Linux?

Problem Description:

I downloaded the installation files and installed MATLAB, but the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) was not installed into $MATLAB/sys/java/jre directory (where $MATLAB is the MATLAB installation directory).

Solution:

There may have been a problem with the installer where it did not complete successfully. This can happen if the installation files are in the same directory as the target installation location. MATLAB should not be installed into the directory where the source installation files are located.

To resolve this issue, re-download or move the downloaded installation files to a different directory, then run the installer again and select a different target installation location.
