Subject:

What is the difference between my Service Request number and the THREAD ID at the end of emails from support engineers?

Problem Description:

When I receive an email reply from a support engineer it includes a "THREAD ID" number. However, I have noticed that this number changes from one email to the next over the life of a service request.

Solution:

Your technical support service request is uniquely identified by the Service Request number. This number will never change. You should reference this number when contacting a support engineer regarding your request.

The "THREAD ID" at the end of emails is used for internal tracking purposes only. This ID allows us to route customer emails to the appropriate engineer. You should always be sure to retain the "THREAD ID" when replying to an email from a support engineer. However, the actual number is of no significance.
