Platform Road Map for the MATLAB and Simulink Product Families

MathWorks publishes a platform road map for IT planning purposes for releases of Microsoft Windows, Apple Mac OS X, and select Linux distributions. Other Linux distributions may be supported as described in the Linux System Requirements. The road map reflects the current plans of MathWorks and is subject to change without notice.

Supported Platform Changes

MathWorks periodically updates platform support and is planning the following platform changes:

Dropped Platforms

  • Windows XP and Windows Vista: R2015a will be the last release supporting Windows XP and Windows Vista and their server variants, Windows Server 2003 R2 and Windows Server 2008. Impacted users are advised to migrate to a newer release of Windows at this time.
  • 32-bit Windows: Support for 32-bit Windows will be dropped within the next few years. 32-bit Windows users are advised to migrate to 64-bit Windows at this time. This road map will be updated when more definitive sunset plans are made.
  • OS X 10.7 (Lion): Support will be dropped as of R2015a; support for newer releases of OS X will continue.

Supported Compiler Changes

  • Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Professional: Support will be dropped as of R2014b; support for newer releases of Visual C++ Professional will continue.
  • Intel C++ Composer XE 2011 and Visual Fortran Composer XE 2011: Support will be dropped as of R2014b; support for newer releases of Intel C++ and Fortran compilers will continue.
