Keynote: The ROI of Adopting Model-Based Design

How can you deliver high-quality systems to the market today and develop exciting innovations for tomorrow, all while controlling costs? To accomplish this paradoxical challenge, innovative companies have adopted Model-Based Design over traditional development methods. In this session, we present case studies that demonstrate how leading companies in the aerospace and defence industry meet market challenges to win new contracts and develop the next generation of innovations. Model-Based Design for System Integrators

System integrators in the aerospace and defence industry are increasingly adopting Model-Based Design. It has helped them and other companies save 20%-60% of development time, primarily through better requirement analysis, early testing, and automatic code generation. This session shows how system integrators can use models to analyse requirements, develop requirement-based acceptance tests, and perform early verification on deliverables from suppliers.

MATLAB and Simulink for Studies in Operations Research

Operations research is a diverse field that focuses on understanding and improving system behaviour. This session demonstrates how MATLAB and Simulink products provide a dynamic simulation environment in which operations research engineers can perform both continuous and discrete event simulation, construct mathematical models, and perform optimisation and statistical analysis.

In this session we present three demonstrations that highlight these capabilities:

  • Through-Life Support: Ensuring operational requirements are supported and maintained in the most cost-effective manner
  • Scheduling: Determining the optimal resources and resource usage to perform a specified task
  • Agent Interaction: Modelling agents and their interactions to determine the effects of strategy and tactics on the mission goal 

MATLAB for Telemetry Data Analysis

In this presentation, we show how you can use MATLAB to solve the unique challenges posed by telemetry data analysis. Specifically, you will learn how you can use MATLAB and related toolboxes to:

  • Import poorly formatted data
  • Manage data in the MATLAB workspace using advanced techniques
  • Quickly visualise data interactively and programmatically
  • Evaluate techniques for dealing with missing or poorly sampled data
  • Automate importing, analysis, and visualisation of data
  • Develop a user interface for others to utilise analysis and visualisation routines

Modelling Electronic Interference Scenarios

This session demonstrates how to model the effects of an electronic interferer on an end-to-end communication system using MATLAB and Simulink. We show how to interactively select different interfering signal types, power levels, and locations and see the effects on system-level metrics such as bit error rate. We also show how to include mitigation algorithms such as adaptive beam-forming.
