Fire and Ice, Earth and Oceans: Tools and Techniques for Researching Our Changing Climate with MATLAB
Overview
Are you a researcher, educator or student interested in the changing climate? Are you interested in approaches to accelerate your research and improve student learning?
Join us for this four-part, online webinar series featuring current research advances:
Fire and Ice, Earth and Oceans:
MATLAB Tools and Techniques for Researching Our Changing Climate
Each online seminar includes two components:
- A talk by a Climate researcher on their ongoing and published research, with insights on current climate events, ranging from the California fires, to ice melt, to the use of drones and other technologies to detect and monitor natural hazards. Speakers are active researchers at UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC San Diego.
- Demonstrations of MATLAB tools for climate analysis, visualization, modeling, and even simulation and control of physical devices, by expert MathWorks engineers and scientists. Technical demonstrations will cover
- Data access: Common data formats from popular data portals
- Algorithms: Image processing, deep learning, and more
- Visualization: Map display and analysis, imagine, and 2-D and 3-D plotting
- Code notebooks: For research collaborations, teaching, and publishing
