Computer Algebra Software Developer (m/f/d)

Job Summary

Join the Symbolic Math Toolbox team to develop math libraries for the symbolic engine used in computational mathematics. 


In this team, you will design, develop and enhance features that enables users to explore, rewrite and simplify equations, and to compute analytical solutions as well as numeric solutions using variable precision arithmetic. You will work on the next generation of the symbolic engine math library that will make users in research and engineering even more productive. Specifically, you will be responsible for:

  • Design, architecture and development of user-facing features (algorithms and interfaces)

  • Writing clean, carefully crafted, well-tested code

  • Participating in implementation strategy and design reviews with colleagues

Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree and 5 years of professional work experience (or a master's degree) is required.

Additional Qualifications

  • Solid background in mathematics, especially computer algebra, symbolic math, and computational mathematics

  • 5+ years’ experience in an objected-oriented or functional programming language (e.g., MATLAB, C++, Python)

  • Demonstrated experience in architecture, design and implementation of mathematical algorithms in a team
  • Demonstrated experience with symbolic math systems (e.g. MATLAB Symbolic Math Toolbox, Mathematica, Maple, SymPy, Sage)

Preferred / Nice to have: 

  • A relevant PhD or equivalent experience working in a relevant industry
  • Demonstrated ability to ship products to customers
  • Ability to formulate realistic goals and meet commitments
  • Strong communication skills
