Senior Software Developer - Symbolic Math Toolbox

Job Summary

Join the Symbolic Math Toolbox team to develop math libraries for the symbolic engine used in computational mathematics.

Responsibilities

In this team, you will design, develop and enhance features that enables users to explore, rewrite and simplify equations, and to compute analytical solutions as well as numeric solutions using variable precision arithmetic. You will work on the next generation of the symbolic engine math library that will make users in research and engineering even more productive. Specifically, you will be responsible for:

  • Design, architecture and development of user-facing features (algorithms and interfaces)

  • Writing clean, carefully crafted, well-tested code

  • Participating in all team activities such as team planning, and implementation strategy and design reviews

  • Work effectively with other teams to provide a quality product for our customers  

Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree and 7 years of professional work experience (or a master's degree and 5 years of professional work experience, or a PhD degree) is required.

Additional Qualifications

  • A relevant PhD or equivalent experience working in a relevant industry

  • Solid background in mathematics, especially computer algebra, symbolic math, and computational mathematics
  • 7+ years’ experience in an objected-oriented or functional programming language (e.g., MATLAB, Python, C++)

  • Demonstrated experience in design, architecture, and implementation of mathematical algorithm

  • Demonstrated experience with symbolic math systems (e.g. MATLAB Symbolic Math Toolbox, Mathematica, Maple, SymPy, Sage)

  • Demonstrated ability to formulate realistic goals and meet commitments and to ship product in a commercial software environment
