The Senior Program Manager at MathWorks plays a crucial role in enabling cross-functional teams to drive programs and develop high-quality software. They are responsible for planning and facilitating collaboration between Application Engineering and other departments to ensure the availability of infrastructure, platforms, and tools required to deliver customer value. The Senior Program Manager works closely with Engineering Managers and cross-functional leadership to plan, prioritize, and execute initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with Technical Sales Engineering technical owners and the Technical Sales Engineering community to understand their IT and development infrastructure requirements, standards, and requests for cloud platforms, on-prem server platforms, system integration, and other hardware.
  • Requirements Identification: Act as the primary liaison between application engineering and IT/Platform Engineering to identify efficient plans to meet the needs of Technical Sales Engineering. Develop an understanding of the current state of compute capabilities and approaches, identify improvement opportunities, and provide future state recommendations.
  • Process Standardization: Define and implement standards and governance processes across Technical Sales Engineering. Co-author and execute change management and pilot plans, gather feedback, and incorporate continuous improvement strategies.
  • Initiative Coordination: Provide full support for Technical Sales Engineering cross-functional initiatives. Identify dependencies with other teams, facilitate communication, negotiate responsibilities and plans with dependent/impacted teams.
  • Continuous Improvement: Champion the core value of continuous improvement. Facilitate problem-solving to identify root causes of issues and implement effective countermeasures. Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to identify team quality issues, raise awareness, and develop plans to address them.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree and 6 years of professional work experience (or a master's degree and 3 years of professional work experience, or a PhD degree, or equivalent experience) is required.

  • Technical Expertise: Technical degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, or Science.
  • Program and Project Management: Experience managing complex cross-functional IT, software development, or business projects/programs.
  • Project Management Skills: Proficiency in project management, process improvement, and change management techniques.
  • Global Collaboration: Flexibility to collaborate with global teams across multiple time zones.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills to effectively convey ideas and collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Cloud Computing Knowledge: Understanding of cloud computing technologies, platforms, and concepts, and the ability to describe them as requirements during needs analysis.
  • Influence and Leadership: Ability to influence others even when direct authority is not present.
  • Customer Orientation: Customer-oriented mindset to prioritize customer needs and deliver value.
  • Adaptability: Adaptability in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple tasks and initiatives simultaneously.
