The Benefits Operations Specialist is responsible for the efficient administration of global benefits programs, including working closely with the HRIS team on Workday benefits configuration and vendor integrations. This role involves ensuring seamless operation of global benefits processes, identifying and leading enhancements to system capabilities, and maintaining compliance with applicable regulations. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in benefits administration and have an understanding of Workday benefits configuration, open enrollment processing, and benefits integrations.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the HRIS team and global HR teams to enable new Workday technology solutions, feature upgrades and releases for global benefit plans including requirements gathering, testing and execution of global benefit processes. 
  • Manage benefits-related integrations, including resolving integration failures, and testing integration updates and new requirements.  Collaborate with vendors, the HRIS team, and Business Applications team to drive automation and improve efficiency of integrations.
  • Identify and lead process improvement and automation opportunities for global benefit processes.  Develop and implement best practices, standards and governance frameworks for global benefits operations, focusing on process improvement and automation.
  • Identify reporting and dashboard requirements and conduct analysis to identify trends and inform strategic decision making.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations and annual enrollment for U.S. benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, retirement plans, wellness programs, and other voluntary benefits.
  • Manage the 401k plan administration, including annual 5500 and audits.   
  • Serve as an escalation point of contact and back-up for staff inquiries regarding benefits, providing guidance and resolving issues.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to benefit plans.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of benefits communication strategies to enhance staff understanding and engagement.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree and 3 years of professional work experience (or a master's degree, or equivalent experience) is required.

Additional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in benefits administration
  • Proficiency in HRIS software (e.g., Workday) and experience with system integrations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations (e.g., ACA, COBRA, ERISA, FMLA, HIPAA).
