Install Simulink Copilot as add-on

Simulink® Copilot has added MATLAB®, Simulink, and MATLAB Copilot as dependencies and is now an add-on product on the same license as MATLAB and Simulink. To gain access to Simulink Copilot, you must install the Simulink Copilot add-on. Previously, you did not need to install the Simulink Copilot add-on.

To install Simulink Copilot, select it from the product selection list while installing MATLAB. If you already have MATLAB installed, install Simulink Copilot from the Add-Ons panel. For more information, see Get and Manage Add-Ons.

Update notification for Simulink Copilot

If you have the Simulink Copilot installed and an update is available, a banner appears in the Copilot Chat panel indicating that Simulink Copilot needs an update. To apply the update, close and reopen Simulink Copilot. For more information, see Set Up and Use Simulink Copilot.

Connect Simulink Copilot to your LLM provider (September 2026)

You can connect Simulink Copilot to private large language model (LLM) endpoints that are approved by your organization. For more information, see Connect MathWorks Copilot Products to Your LLM.

Understand models, learn tools, and get design guidance with generative AI

Simulink Copilot provides generative AI–powered capabilities for the Simulink environment. With Simulink Copilot, you can ask questions in the Copilot Chat panel and get responses based on your open model, relevant MathWorks® documentation, and other resources. Use Copilot to:

  • Understand model functionalities and algorithms.

  • Identify features within your model and trace them to model elements.

  • Get guidance on refining your model.

  • Analyze errors and warnings, and get help in fixing them.

  • Learn about model-based design tools and techniques.

  • Execute and monitor development and validation tasks defined in Process Advisor (requires the CI/CD Automation for Simulink Check™ support package).

Use Simulink Copilot in Simulink Online (May 2026)

Simulink Copilot is supported in Simulink Online. However, in Simulink Online, you cannot use Simulink Copilot with Process Advisor to automate and execute development and verification activities in your project. For more information, see Limitations.
