Object Edge recognition using particle filter

Hi. PLS help me. Exist any particle filter that recognizes object in the video using the edges?

I know for example Sobel or Canny. but they only show the edges of the image.

I need to recognize the object using it. Thank´s

Why do you need edges? Is the object of varying intensity inside it, some intensities which may be the same as the "background"? Please post a frame from your video with the paper clip icon.
