Using MATLAB from C++Builder

I have a large system for acoustic analysis in Embarcadero's C++Builder (formerly Borland). It used to be able to connect to MATLAB via libeng.dll and hand data and results back and forth, but a few years ago this stopped working. Apparently C++Builder is no longer supported for calls to the MATLAB engine.
Does anyone know of any other ways I can pass data back and forth between MATLAB and a C++Builder program? Through a socket maybe? COM (which I know little about, but could learn)? I'm working in Windows 7 and 8.
