i have installed R2014b on 10.9.5 on a macbook pro 2,4GHz 4GB
every cam calculation takes seconds and simulink editing is nearly impossible
>> bench
ans =
1.4511 0.2908 0.2627 0.3420 1.7284 2.0894
on a win7 mashine mit coreduo i3 and 4GB works everything fine
any ideas?

Matlab and Simulink are both pretty memory intensive programs. While your computer may be adequate for other tasks an i3 processor with only 4gb of RAM is actually pretty wimpy for the kinds of tasks - you don't exactly tell us what - one would do in those programs. The i3 has a very small cache and 4 GB doesn't leave much memory after the OS is running. Are you using win7 -32 bit or win 7 64 bit. That also makes a difference. What type of hard rive? This is important if your machine has to use the HD for swap space to make up for the lack of physical memory. Immediate suggestion is to add another 4 GB of ram, which should make an immediately noticeable difference. Second option, replace the machine with a minimum core i5 and 16 GB of ram. If you can afford it, 16 GB is always better, and the quad core i7 is better still.
I just realized that you are running this under a virtual machine to boot. Are you using boot camp or are you running under parallels, VMware, virtual box, or something else. Any of those have overhead costs that also exact a performance penalty. If you are running under boot camp, then my original comments still apply, and under a VM they especially apply.
Hope this helps.

this is study projekt, so i do video capturing with getsnapshot and do some calculations with the matrixes. at the universtiy we have win7-i3 thoes working ok. i selfe using this Macbook cor2duo with 10.9.5 and matlab for mac and it is horrable slow. comparing the hadrware is not much of a difference. and simulink is not worhable at all, i takes 2-3 try's to grab a block and move it.
