Update Diagram fails on "No Connect" Cosim block

Currently we have a blackbox instantiation for our simulink block representation of a handwritten HDL module. Within the black-box, we have instantiated a cosim block for the sake of simulation.
At a higher level, we have defined a variant subsystem where one variant has the cosim block configured for simulation while the other has the cosim block configured as "No Connect" (to speed up HDL code generation).
The issue is that the variant configuration with the "No Connect" is generating this error:
Error reported by S-function 'shdlcosim' in 'dtc_core_system/DTC_CORE/DSP_band_0/RX Path/rx_chan/chan_wrapper/Stratus_Channelizer_No_Connect/Channelizer/no_tdm_Channelizer/S-Function': Handshaking with the server failed - Server was NOT an 'HDL Link' server, change the port
Port shouldn't matter for a cosim block in "No Connect" form. In prior projects, this issue did not used to happen. Currently using Matlab 2020b.

Can you share a sample model with your usecase?
