Can I download the data sent from PLC over the Internet using MATLAB without using OPC Server?

I want to send data from WAGO PLC to internet using GPRS (TAINY EMOD) module. On the remote end, I want to download it using MATLAB. So, Do I need to use OPC Server or can I download it without OPC Server?
