I am looking to make a make a 2D plot of a 3D scalogram I have but am uncertain on the procedure.

I am using the Uni_Wave version 3 to create scalograms from blasting seismograph data. I have succeeded in creating the 3D scalogram plot but am uncertain how to modify the data to look like that of a similar paper we have been looking at. I have succeeded in creating the following scalogram:

And I am looking to display it like this:

Additionally, I am curious as to how he made his graph so smooth looking. I am admittedly a beginner with MATLAB but any help would be appreciated.
