How can I include existing figures into a published document?

How can I include existing figures into a published document (e.g. Word .doc)?
The figure windows are open in MATLAB, but there are no corresponding .fig files on the hard drive.

Consider using the "refresh" command to trigger a redraw and thus force the inclusion of the figure in the published document.
