Bad plot quality by exporting to .emf

Hello,

I need to export a plot of a calculation to an emf-File, beacuse it shall be used in MS Word as a vector-gaphic later. But using the command

plot(x,y) 
saveas(gcf,'name','emf')

produces a very ugly plot, shown in the attached pdf file on page 2. If I export the figure directly to PDF (fist page) the lines are much smoother. How do I get these smooth lines to emf-format?
