I'm charging a 40V, 50Ah Lead acid battery using buck converter and PI control on battery voltage and current. Simulink 2012b hangs after half an hour of simulation maybe because of data storage. Please suggest me what can be done.

The simulation takes a lot of time. Please let me know what can me done to improve simulation take also. The battery charges on hourly basis, but when the simulation is run for more than half an hour, Matlab 2012b hangs and nothing can be done but restart Matlab. I'm using inductor and power components for simulation, I have seen that power components does increase the simulation time. I do guess because of the data stored in workspace the Matlab is getting hanged. Please provide me suggestions to perform this simulation.

Hello Ravindra,
please update to a newer version of matlab, and utilize simscape components. Start here: https://www.mathworks.com/help/physmod/simscape/ug/lead-acid-battery.html
Otherwise try adding snubber resistors and switching to a fixed time step simulation. You should also reduce the amount of data being saved.
Regards,
Joel
