In this forum: I have written a private message to someone on fileexchange, how can I see if he has answered?

I can't find a "messages" "inbox" or sth like that button in my profile. Can anyone help?

There isn't any "inbox", "messages" or anything similar here. When you send a message to a contributor it simply sends them an email containing your message and your email address for them to respond to. It is up to them if they want to respond to your message.
Many people send messages without any useful information (especially links to their questions) and use different names to their MATLAB user names, making it impossible to figure out who they are and what they are referring to. I usually delete those emails.

Private messages go to the email address associated with the person’s profile. There is no way to track them to see if the person has received or read them.
Whether they respond depends on the message you sent. I frequently receive private messages that do not contain any information (such as the URL) referring to a particular post the person wants me to look at, making it impossible for me to figure out what the private message actually refers to. That is frustrating for us both.
