How does Matlab Function block Quarc real time target?

Hi, I want to know that does Matlab Function block affects the speed of Quarc real time target? And can I prefer to use Matlab Function block to the simulink blocks whenever possible(such as complex mathematical functions which can be easily written in Matlab function block ) ?
