R2014A crashes my ubuntu system so hard, that I have to physically pull the plug. It's reproducible and happens every time. After rebooting, I get an "Error loading configuration file", so the GUI windows are reset to default and no programs are loaded into the editor. Between working and locking up the system, the change is increasing the simulation maximum time of the program by 50%.
I have the logs. How can I find out what is causing the crash?

It turns out that my 32 GB system is out of RAM.
allvars = whos;
memused_bytes = sum([allvars.bytes])
memused_GB = memused_bytes / 1e9
This returns about 23 GB workspace data.

Is that happening even before you execute any commands? What is in your startup.m file?
