How do I write an array of strings to a netCDF file using MATLAB

I would like to create a netcdf4 file using MATLAB and write an array of strings to it. In the help the variable type NC_STRING is not mentioned: https://nl.mathworks.com/help/matlab/ref/nccreate.html
Can anyone help me create a variable of this type and write and array of strings to it?
