At first, I thought that might be your problem right there.
The system requirements page.
It tells me that 10.10.X (Yosemite) is not supported for the current release.
But then I checked the requirements page for 2017a , which is what you are trying to use, and that is just (barely) supported.
I do wonder if maybe your problem is a Java issue. Perhaps you have too recent or too old a Java release? All of this is just idle speculation on my part though.
I would suggest you contact tech support for this, as they actually do know what they are doing, as opposed to me in this respect. They can tell you if the problem is a version issue, and I hope, how to solve it in any case.

The crash appears to be something to do with Java and finding your locale.
R2017a had the repair for the locale changes that Apple made in El Capitan; I wonder if there was a backwards compatibility problem?
I would suggest experimenting with changing your system preferences to English, especially with USA keyboard, and seeing if that helps, as en_us was not affected by the changes Apple made.
