Verificaste si el programa no entra en un bucle infinito o algo por el estilo?

SI. USO EL SYMS Y SE CONGELA. AHI ME DIJERON UQE HAY UNA ACTUALIZACION, QUE LA BAJE PERO ME PIDE ESTO Y NO SE COMO SE HACE.
Windows – Silent Installation To run the silent installer in Windows, first make sure that you quit any release of MATLAB open on your machine. Run the installer from a system prompt with the /S flag (silent), providing the R2018a root directory. For example: start /wait R2018a_Update_# /S /D=C:\Program Files\MATLAB\R2018a (replace # with the Update number you are installing) If the Update is already installed, the operation will still run, but no changes will be made. SI ME PODRIAS EXPLICA.

If you are using R2018a, there is a known bug in handling of symbolic variables, which is fixed in an update package. You can download the update here.
