class of communication object

I am getting class of a variable communicating with MATLAB through COM as: 'Interface.6A6D2097_6269_40EE_9F03_B9E0F06DF776'
Shouldn't the function class(variable,say a) just say 'string' rather than this 'Interface.6A6D2097_6269_40EE_9F03_B9E0F06DF776'?
