MATLab figures are blank empty windows

Ive recently started working from home with MATLab from my office and when running a code I know works (and have been using a lot) I found my figure windows are all empty, just white space. The tools such as save file edit etc are there but the figure space itself is just white.
I tried just plotting a straight line manually in command window and still nothing.
I think it may be a java issue or something. Im running MATLAB ver 7 2007a (student) on Windows 7. I have updated the java folder within matlab to allow it to run and on other machines this has worked fine but ive never encountered these blank empty figure windows before.
Any ideas?

I have changed the java folder to allow this older version of matlab to run in win7 themes. This is what I have done on the computer I use in my office(with no issues). I can run matlab in classic and figures do display properly but I dont want to run in windows classic, sorry for being fussy!
Not sure what you mean by Aero though, can you explain?
