It is incredible this problem still is there!!!! XLSREAD STILL GIVES PROBLEMS

I'm quite surprised and dissapointed with this. With the same version (Matlab R2018a) in two different SURFACE computers, in one case , this sentence
% import data from current directory
[num,txt,raw]=xlsread('SP500_GSPC.xls');
works just fine. But in the other computer (with EXACTLY the same Folder names, etc)
you get
Error using xlsread (line 260)
Error: El servidor lanzo una EXCEPCION.
How can this be?. This time-consuming error does nothing in favour of MATLAB reputation.
By the way, I've tried to turn it off and on again.... and does not work.

Thank you Adam.
exist('SP500_GSPC.xls', 'file')
ans = 2
which 'SP500_GSPC.xls'
returns the directory the file is in. (C:\Data.... etc)
Thank you Walter, I'll check that.

Well, that rules out an access problem between Matlab and the file. Hopefully Walter's lead will identify the problem.
