Connecting permanent-magnet synchronous generator to a wind turbine model

I am currently attempting to use a permanent-magnet synchronous machine as a generator to connect to my wind turbine model in simulink. The problem I have encountered is that my wind turbine model is outputting the speed of the generator whereas the examples only has the PMSG with torque as an input. I would like to know if by changing my input on the PMSM to speed, and input the speed from my wind turbine, if it will work as a generator. Or are there other factors that I need to take into consideration. My purpose for this is to show that my wind turbine is producing electricity, therefore it is required that the generator be connected to a battery.
