Error in App Designer. Copy and Paste of components. Help Please

The App Designer made like 200 copies of some of my components(deckdropdown_3 and deckdropdown_5) and pastes them on top of each other everytime I open the app for editing. Furthermore, right now I am not able to delete them. They make the App heavier, so much that it made it impossible to run it.

I share with you my .mlapp. It is for my final project degree and I had to finish it for next friday... 😅

I assume New0.mlapp is the one with the problem (there are two mlapp files).

I was able to delete all of the duplicates (100s of them) within the AppDesigner environment but then I couldn't save the results in AppDesigner.

I also tried removing them from the component files (mlapp files are just zip files) which seemed to have been successful but then they reappeared when I loaded the corrected file into AppDesigner.

If it didn't take so long for the file to load I'd try some other things. I suggest you contact tech support and attach your app or point to this thread where they can download your app.

Yes, it was the new0 one. A similar thing happened to me when I tried to delete them, it couldn’t be saved. Anyway, thank you so much for taking the time, I have contacted the tech support , as you suggested. Let’s hope they receive the Message and are able to help.

Hi Adam, how do you zip the file back to .mlapp? I make an archive and just rename the extension, but I get the error while opening.

I snooped around the archive and it looks the code that we see in App Designer is located in ./matlab/document.xml, whereas AppDesigner figure components are located in ./appdesigner/appModel.mat.

You might have deleted the stuff in .xml, but the components will re-appear because they exist in .mat file.

I have cleared the .xml and appModel.mat file from DeckDropDown_5 and DeckDropDown_5Label, however, DeckDropDown_3 and its label is a bit harder to find. Maybe you could test the file if the component is removed in App Designer (only one instance of it should remain) as I don't know how to properly revert file back to .mlapp.

To unzip I change the mlapp file ext to zip, then I unzip the files, edit them, compress them back into a zip file, and then change the file ext from zip to mlapp. Then I open the file from the Matlab command window using appdesigner(___).

I don't know how to identify the component IDs in components.Groups{i} but I suspect that they are behind the reappearance of the duplicate components.

Hmm, I guess I am doing something that makes the app unable to open with modifications.

Each component has another structure property added to it in App Designer called DesignTimeProperties, which has field GroupID.
