Is the .exe intended to copy the .m file to a user directory, where the user will then start their own copy of MATLAB to run it?
Or is the .exe intended to be an executable that runs your code without the user needing their own copy of MATLAB ?

It's easy type "deploytool" in command window; U get a dialog box , press enter; U get an option add main file; then add ur .m file ; press build button ; it's Done;

This does require that the MATLAB Compiler toolbox be licensed and installed.

If you are trying to create a stand-alone executable, you need MATLAB Compiler or MATLAB Coder. Those are expensive products.
Note: MATLAB Compiler and MATLAB Coder cannot be used with Student Version licenses -- only with Academic or Professional licenses.
