Short version:
When you are asked to clarify your question, please add all important
information by editing the original question. This is the location, where
readers expect them. The comments and the section reserved for answers are
less useful. You can type "[EDIT]" to mark new information.
Thanks!
Motivation:
It is the nature of questions, that they tend to miss important details, because the distinction of what is important or not is clear after the solution is found. Therefore many questions in this forum demands for some clarifications.
Unfortunately most of the additional information are posted as comment or even worse in the answer section. When a discussion starts in the comment section, such important details run out of view soon and any new reader of a question have to dig through a pile of comments at first. Clarifications hidden in pseudo-answers can be hardly recognized, when other answers are posted and moved to top by voting or accepting.
It would be more efficient to encourage the asking persons to insert all important information by editing the original question. Then a reader find all required details, where they are expected.
PS. I'm going to link this thread to reduce the length of my comments. I do not think, that I can accept an answer here.
