Very Fast Azimuthal Profile
Version 1.0.0 (1.53 KB) by
Sergey Loginov
Computes average intensity depending on the direction. No "for loop"s are involved.
This function is built on the same principle as "Very Fast Radial Profile" -- a guiding image is generated and then "accumarray" function does the actual averaging.
Here, the "accumarry" is called upon 3 times: the first time to compute exact tics positions; the second time, to average the data; and the third time it is used to calculate the shape of the frame itself. Frame shape correction takes into account that all image wedges have different sizes (for example longest wedges are pointed to the frame corners). For some applications frmae shape correction might be excessive.
Also in this function another complication in azimutal profiling (the line ) is adressed. Results of first and last wedges are exchanged for a special wedge with centered over . Additionally this trick makes resulting "polarplot"s continious!
Further improvemnet in terms of subpixel interpolation can be done.
