Abstract:
The third-generation (3G) of mobile communication systems aim is to provide an enhanced voice, text and data services to the user. Recently research has been focused on techniques that simplify the mobile receiver structure in a CDMA system by means of signal precoding. These methods assume knowledge of the channel at the transmitter, which is feasible in a time division duplex (TDD) system where the channel is assumed to be the same on uplink and downlink. One of the transmitter based signal precoding technique is joint transmission. This is a block wise technique; here block of data is transmitted through the channel. The simulation results compare this parameter BER and SNR.

System model:
The system considered is a wireless multi-user direct sequence TDD-CDMA system with K active users in a cell communicating through a common base station (BS). The BS has one antenna element and transmits synchronously (which is realistic for the downlink) over frequency selective channels to K mobile Stations (MS). The BPSK modulated data is spread with the pn sequence and the spreading code is transmitted through the frequency selective channel.

Block wise technique:
In block wise technique, the data is precoded and transmitted in blocks of N data bits for each of the K active users in a cell. One of the blocks wise techniques is joint transmission. In joint transmission a common signal s, which gives the desired data at the output of every user?s receiver is sought for transmission.
