Liquid-Liquid Extraction: Isopropyl Alcohol-Water-N butanol
Version 1.2.0 (4.64 MB) by
Ana Paula Rodríguez
The separation of isopropyl alcohol and water using n-butanol as solvent by liquid-liquid extraction is simulated.
The following project simulates the behavior of the liquid-liquid ternary extraction column located in the Laboratory of Separation Processes of the Universidad Metropolitana with MATLAB tools, taking into account the data obtained from the practice and experimental procedure. Knowing the volumetric flow and concentration of the feed composed by isopropyl alcohol and water, the volumetric flow of the solvent composed solely of n-butanol, and the refractive index of the raffinate obtained, the app calculates the flow and mass composition of all streams. In addition, the application graphs the data and results obtained in a ternary diagram. The app is developed for spanish and english users.
