World Currents is a general purpose program for the analysis of water current records consisting of either current speed and direction or east-west, north-south vector components. Principal components analysis is used to find the principal current direction through rotation of original coordinate axes to axes of maximum and minimum variance. The user may then specify principal current or any other direction prior to analysis. As in companion program World Tides, the analysis separates bidirectional current into its tidal and non-tidal components, deriving the tidal component after selecting between 5 and 35 tidal harmonic constituents.
