A VEX EDR has on-board sensors such as gyro, line followers, sonar, and motor encoders. The zip file contains functions and descriptions to obtain these values and others as well as control motors on the EDR via a wireless serial link. General MATLAB functions allow direct access to a COM serial port (USB). The XBee RF transceiver plugs into a SparkFun Explorer USB and mates with a MATLAB computer USB port. The XBee on the EDR mounts on the Sparkfun Explorer Regulated which takes 5 volts from the UART port on the VEX EDR computer. XBee signal lines go to the UART port as well.
