For those who compete quite frequently, multisportaustralia.com.au is clearly the best website to get our ranking and overall position. Race time is interesting but the overall ranking also provides further insight into personal performances.
However, the features of the multisportaustralia.com.au website is not particularly helpful when one needs to get the entire set of data from a large group of competitors. A quick turnaround would be to use Excel and copy-paste every single page from the website into Excel. However, for races with a large number of people competing, copy-pasting can be quite tedious.
With a bit of Matlab, I just wrote a very simple code that can help with that. It reads each website (that are numbered) and exports the position and time (in seconds) of each race.
The current code is working for the swimmers who just finished the Bondi to Bronte 2017 race. For the Matlab lover, this code can be easily adapted for other races by making sure to modify the URL of the website as well as the number of pages.
At the moment it only exports the position and the time in seconds. If some people want more, let me know by email at vcai6204@uni.sydney.edu.au
