Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV´s) Simulation
A Plug-in Hybrid allows the user to charge the battery pack to use a larger range of power than a standard hybrid.
The energy consumption of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) is influenced by driving cycles
Compared with Hybrid Vehicle PHEV can work in Charge Depleting mode (CD), and Sustaining mode (CS).
In CD mode, the vehicle is driven by the motor to consume electric power which provided by the power grid.
After the entering the CS mode the Vehicle use SOC to prolong the Battery working life.
Driving cycles is the main factor, affecting the fuel economy of PHEV.
Conclusion:
1.Disadvantage - low energy efficiency in the CS mode
2.PHEV using full electricity to drive, and HEVs engine is working with high efficiency
Switching On/Off engine is one of mos critical Component at PHEV
A Series PHEV main power source is the electric motor, which drives the vehicle.
