Use serial communication to control your hotplate.

Create serial object e.g. on COM port 3:
s = heidolphhotplateobj(3);

Connect to it:
heidolphhotplateobjconnect(s)

Read the current temperature:
currentTemperature = heidolphhotplateobjcurrenttemp(s)

Set a new temperature e.g. 65 C:
heidolphhotplateobjwritesettemp(s, 65)

Disconnect and cleanup:
heidolphhotplateobjdisconnect(s)

Other functions are supported, and if your hotplate has something missing, you can communicate with the hotplate using the lower level command heidolphhotplateobjcomm(s).
