Note that the loop is superfluous as this simple formula can be trivially vectorized:

xx = (UL+LL)/2 - (UL-LL)/2 * cos((2*(1:n)-1)*pi/(2*n))

Note that everyone has anonymous functions, but not everyone has the symbolic toolbox.
