Bit Error Rate Analysis and Eye Diagram Scope Apps

The Bit Error Rate Analysis and Eye Diagram Scope apps are included in Communications System Toolbox. You can find them, along with the rest of the apps for your installed products, by clicking the Apps tab in the MATLAB Toolstrip.

The Eye Diagram Scope app enables you to visualize and measure the effects of various impairments (e.g. noise, jitter, and filtering) on a modulated signal. The scope performs a probability density function (pdf) analysis on the signal to illustrate its trajectory in time, and to calculate such quantities as eye SNR, RMS jitter, rise time, and fall time. It also enables you to import and compare measurement results for eye diagrams of multiple signals.

The Bit Error Rate Analysis (BERTool) app enables you to analyze the bit error rate (BER) performance of communications systems. BERTool computes the BER as a function of signal-to-noise ratio. It analyzes performance either with Monte-Carlo simulation of MATLAB functions and Simulink® models, or with theoretical closed-form expressions for selected types of communication systems.

Apps are interactive MATLAB programs you can use without writing any code. Most toolboxes come with apps, and you can download more for free from the MATLAB File Exchange. You can also package and share your own apps.
