PI is a leading provider of nanopositioning products and systems. All key technologies are developed, manufactured, and qualified in-house by PI: piezo components, actuators and motors, magnetic drives, guiding systems, nanometrology sensors, electronic amplifiers, digital controllers, and software.

The PI MATLAB driver is able to control all newer “PI motion systems” directly from MATLAB. Using the PI MATLAB Driver, a special object is created that provides access to the PI motion system. For example, with just a few lines of code, you are able to command positions to the motion system and query the position reached. An example of how this works is shown in the product picture (see sample code).

Further available functions are, for example, trace memory readout, wave generator, on-the-fly controller configuration, and more. Depending on the PI motion system, the connection to the PC can be established via USB, RS-232, or TCP/IP. The PI MATLAB Driver does not require any MATLAB toolboxes. For Windows, a complete installer is available. For Linux, a beta version is available upon request.
